Background

Born Lykos Alexander Mulciber on March 10th, 1932, he is the youngest of three sons born to Adrastos and Aileen Mulciber.

Never considered to be amongst the elite of wizarding society, the Mulcibers nevertheless managed to carve out a niche for themselves, gaining some respectability amongst their peers despite being only full-bloods, and not purebloods as is favoured amongst what some might label the "inner circle" of society. Although not wealthy, the Mulcibers managed to generate a comfortable income through their staunch dedication to a sound work ethic, that no man should rely on charity or the wealth his ancestors created, and that a man's worth was in his willingness to put in an honest day's work for an honest day's galleon. The Mulcibers did not have a sprawling estate full of antique treasures, but they did have enough to put three sons through school, and they never had to worry about doing without the basics in life, even if the majority of life's luxuries were something beyond their means.

In 1944 Lykos Mulciber began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where, like the others of his family, he was sorted into Hufflepuff. But as Lykos will tell you, the Sorting Hat was divided between sorting Lykos into Slytherin and Hufflepuff, seeing that Lykos had a clever, cunning streak in him, but in the end, it was the work ethic that his family had instilled in him plus his willingness to follow that ethic that ultimately placed him in Hufflepuff. From there he would do about average in his subjects, with Charms and Transfiguration being his two strongest subjects—so much so that his teacher in Transfiguration asked him if he was interested in learning how to become an Animagus. Naturally Mulciber accepted, and about a year after graduation [with four NEWTs], he successfully completed the change and put his name down in the registry, with his animal form being listed as a red fox.

It was sometime during Lykos' fifth and sixth years that he began to feel dissatisfied with life. Perhaps it was simple adolescent rebellion; maybe something else, but Lykos began to develop a tendency towards deviant behaviour, using his natural charm and wit to lull people into a sense of complacency, thus allowing him to pull off petty offences against other students, and mostly those within his own House. He was never caught, though, taking care to not only target things that would likely not be missed, but also to ensure that the time between crimes was long enough so that people did not think there was a rash of thefts going on that their Head of House needed to know about.

Also around this time a group calling itself the Walpurgis Knights made its way through the corridors, spread by word of mouth. Curious, Lykos decided to look into it, but, feeling as though he had nothing to offer them, passed up his opportunity. And had fate continued along this path, it's likely Lykos would've ended up as a Mundungus-like person—someone inclined to thievery and shady dealings but otherwise a good person, and not at all geared towards a life of evil. But fate chose differently, and it was a chance discovery of a series of books on the Dark Arts and forbidden magics [including detailed information about the Unforgivable Curses that somehow appealled to the young Mulciber] that ultimately began the path towards Lykos' ending up with the Knights, with Lykos joining them about two years after graduation; shortly after his nineteenth birthday, and where he would remain for the rest of his life.

Personality

Lykos Mulciber is, when you meet and get to know him, someone who might make you rethink the whole "Death Eater" stereotype. At least, he'd give you the impression of that, at any rate. Suffice to say his projected personality is completely opposite to who he really is. Charming, with a warm smile and a good word to say as well as a man for compliments—especially if they'll earn him someone's regard or if the situation or individual merits it—as well as being something of the "bashfull young man" type, he comes across as a generally likeable, agreable, even affable type of person. And that's the image he wants to leave in your mind, because by acting the lamb, he can fool people into believing he is the lamb, so that they forget to look for the wolf's teeth. This makes it easy for him to slip in the Imperius Curse on people. When they think well of you, they're generally easier to manipulate and control. After all, why would anyone think such a kindly old man was bad?

Well. Maybe they should.

Special Abilities

Other than his mastery of the Imperius Curse and the Animagus ability he'd learned during the last few years of his time at Hogwarts, Lykos has no special abilites to take note of.

Appearance

Although it feeds the Hufflepuff stereotype, Lykos' appearance is hardly noteworthy. With short dark hair and brown eyes, as well as being somewhat on the short side [about 5'6" in height], he's pretty plain-looking overall. Or, he would be, if it were not for his infectious smile that gives people the impression that Lykos is good-natured and harmless. And even when he's not smiling his expression is kindly and warm, making him a person who looks like someone anyone could like, despite his darker side.

Possessions of Note

Lykos has two familiars: the cat his parents bought him when he first started school at Hogwarts and the hawk owl he bought shortly after graduation. The cat is black in colour, with orange eyes and answers to the name "Althea". Lykos calls his owl "Eripio" [which means "to snatch" in Latin].
